There is a beach hotel in North Goa where I love to escape. The Meem's Arabian Sea at Ashwem is a piece of paradise, professionally run by Rashid and his canadian wife Maila.
My 'bungalow' over looks the sea, simple and clean with a shower and toilet and a large veranda. All the comfortable beach huts have bathrooms with showers en-suite.
I travel alone but enjoy meeting the Meem's clientele, '30 something', independent, multi international travellers and families.
The long sandy beach is washed clean by the tide, the sea is warm, shallow and safe. The restaurant is the best in the area serving fresh food all day from an open kitchen, the service is always smiling and attentive.
There is nothing to do but rest, swim, read, take a walk along the beach and watch dolphins play. Bikes and scooters are available to hire or you may choose to take a tour to Paradise beach, visit the old hippie cafes and bookshops at Arunbol.
There is a colourful Saturday night market and the famous Anjuna market on Wednesdays which are always both fun to visit.
Room prices are very reasonable around £25 a night. The best time to visit is November to mid April.
